What are the advantages and disadvantages of the web client?

For AixBOMS, we offer both a web client and a dedicated Java GUI, the AixBOMS Navigator. Key advantages of the web client include its availability: it can be operated anywhere via a standard web browser, independent of the end device's operating system and specifications. Unlike the Navigator GUI, it does not support drag-and-drop or multi-window technology, just like most web applications, whereas the AixBOMS Navigator even offers this in combination. Furthermore, there are dependencies on browser manufacturers and a lack of security. Even if you are „just“ managing infrastructure data with AixBOMS, this data also includes, for example, configuration data for central and critical company components and services!

We find that our customers prefer to use the tailored graphical editors and wizards when dealing with complex data relationships. They benefit from the one-to-one coupling between graphics and the database, which eliminates the need to maintain both worlds in parallel.

The AixBOMS rule system, based on the data model and years of practical experience, offers the necessary security when performing any operation, whether in the editor or via the database interface. Additionally, there is simplification through pre-filled entries, selection lists, and automation of tasks via our Workflow Engine. Our logbook functionality makes executions auditable, and we offer our client solution „Datazone“ for different data ranges.
