Why is a CI package needed?

Configuration Items (CIs) are complex object landscapes in the AixBOMS database that you want to manage independently, such as servers, IP addresses, etc. In our database model, CI classes are defined for the different application areas, which determine the properties of the CIs, their relationships to other CIs, and the possible access rights. All views, functions, editors, and default settings for the creation of new CIs are based on this. This also applies to the also very extensive and practically proven set of rules, which monitors the permitted properties, relationships, and access rights for every operation. Furthermore, we continuously maintain new classes for you, so you do not have to concern yourself with data modelling.

We offer AixBOMS for small and medium-sized businesses as well as for large clients, with the core development remaining the same. To enable flexible and expandable adaptation of the product and its applications for the respective needs of our customers across different IT infrastructure and service management disciplines, there are various scaling options. One of these is licensing tiered by CIs, so that „smaller“ customers with fewer managed components incur lower licence costs. Conversely, larger customers ultimately benefit from per-user tiered licensing, which we also offer, as they can better utilise the mass processing capabilities of AixBOMS. Since AixBOMS is highly integrative due to its openness, it is also frequently used as a backend CMDB. In this scenario, actual processing is carried out by external programs via AixBOMS' integration interfaces, rather than through the AixBOMS GUI. Therefore, licensing based on the number of users does not make sense here. Consequently, in addition to scaling options via applications, server type, add-ons, customising, and development, we offer a combination of both licensing types. Contact us if you would like to know which licensing and scaling options are best for you. We will make you a fair offer!
