On 12.06.2025, Dr. Lutz Stobbe (2nd from right) received the 2025 Fraunhofer IZM Research Award „for outstanding research achievements in the fields of microelectronics, microsystems technology, and packaging“. This award, in addition to the research achievement itself, particularly honours the transfer into industrially relevant developments.

His work on the ecological assessment of ICT infrastructures, with a particular focus on data centres and network technologies, will be recognised. Together with his „Sustainable Networks and Computing“ working group, Dr. Stobbe is developing comprehensive lifecycle assessment models for digital systems to holistically and accurately capture their environmental impact.

In the joint project with AixpertSoft „Data centre in the wind turbine“He is also involved in Green ICT (Information and Communication Technology) with the Fraunhofer IZM.
